THE OFFICIAL HOME OF
MARINA DANCE TEAM
Dance Team is a year-round activity.
All practices and performances are mandatory as this is a graded class. Therefore, it is not feasible to participate in another sport unless it does not conflict with our team schedule. Team members and their families will receive a link to our calendar that is updated frequently, but dates are subject to change as new opportunities arise.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is dance experience necessary?
Yes, prior dance experience is required. A majority of our practices are dedicated to learning choreography and perfecting our routines. This team is intended to be a performance group that builds upon prior skills, rather than a place to develop the beginnings of technical training.
Are there fundraising opportunities?
Yes! Throughout the course of the year, we do fundraising events that benefit our program as a whole. During the holiday season, we coordinate a See's Candies fundraiser that dancers can participate in and the funds raised will go directly to their personal accounts.
What is the time commitment?
Besides our practices, we perform at football and basketball games as well as other school and community events. While we highly encourage our dancers to be involved in a studio, it is essential that our dancers prioritize our team's performances and events. Our head coach is intentional about providing monthly calendars in advance so that dancers can inform their other instructors or coaches ahead of time.
What is the practice schedule like?
Our team practices five days a week during sixth period and, at the coach's discretion, for an extended period of time after. The amount of extra time depends on the busyness of the year and the performances we need to prepare for. We do our best to ensure that our dancers can still make it to their studio commitments.
If I missed the tryouts, can I still audition?
We are grateful that you are interested in being a part of our team. However, we only have one tryout session each year and it takes place in the springtime. For example, the audition for the 2021-2022 team occurred in May of 2021. We would love to have you at our next audition!
